THE COURSE

Adhesive prosthetics: inlays and veneers

The course is aimed both at dentists who want to learn the fundamental concepts for executing an inlay or a veneer, and at professionals who want to refine the management of complex adhesive rehabilitations.

Every phase of treatment will be covered in detail, from project analysis to finishing and polishing, with numerous demonstration videos and clinical cases.

The goal is to ensure that every participant can immediately put the acquired knowledge into practice in their own professional setting.

Inlays

Theory
  • Diagnosis and treatment planning: cariological and radiological concepts for a correct treatment plan
  • Indications: analysis of advantages and disadvantages. Why the inlay is among the most performed treatments in modern practices
  • Analysis of dental structures: how to determine when to perform a direct restoration, an inlay, or a crown
  • Vital tooth VS endodontically treated tooth: differences in structural modifications
  • Types of inlays: inlay, onlay, overlay, veneerlay, tabletop. When to perform one or the other
  • IDS and build-up: a fundamental phase that allows less invasive preparations
  • Preparation principles: instrumentation and biological rationale for conservative and effective preparations
  • Deep carious lesions: clinical crown lengthening or cervical margin relocation. Protocols even for the most complex cases
  • Impressions and workflow: analogue VS digital/chairside. How the type of impression influences the preparation design
  • Shade selection: communication with the laboratory
  • Material selection: ceramic, composite, or hybrid. Analysis and selection criteria
  • Try-in of the restoration: evaluation criteria before cementation
  • Cementation: resin cements, flowable composites, dual-cure or light-cured. Selection criteria
  • Finishing and polishing: a simple protocol for uniform surfaces and precise marginal closure
Practice Hands-on Practice
  • LIVE DEMO: execution of preparations for onlay, overlay, veneerlay, and tabletop by Dr. Ceroni
  • Hands-on practice on custom models: participants perform all types of inlay preparations

Veneers

Theory
  • Aesthetic diagnosis and treatment planning: patient evaluation and when an indirect anterior adhesive rehabilitation is indicated
  • Indications: analysis of advantages and disadvantages
  • Longevity: guide to duration expectations for the patient
  • Analysis of dental structures: how to determine when to perform a direct restoration, a veneer, or a crown
  • Photographic documentation and digital smile design: tools for formulating the project
  • Communication with the laboratory: data transmission via facebow, face scanner, etc.
  • Project try-in (mock-up try-in): evaluation methodology
  • Types of veneers: no-prep, V-veneers, classic
  • IDS and build-up: a phase that allows less invasive preparations
  • Preparation principles: basic principles for a guided preparation. Presence or absence of the finish line. Contact point management
  • Discoloured teeth: management of complex cases. External and internal bleaching
  • Impressions and workflow: analogue VS digital/chairside
  • Shade selection: photography, spectrophotometry, or in-office technician consultation
  • Material selection: feldspathic ceramic, composite, lithium disilicate, zirconia. Analysis and selection criteria
  • Provisionals: management of a delicate phase
  • Try-in of the restoration: evaluation of shape, marginal closure, and shade with try-in pastes
  • Cementation: resin cements VS flowable composites. Selection criteria to prevent post-cementation shade shift
  • Finishing and polishing: protocol for uniform surfaces and precise marginal closure
Practice Hands-on Practice
  • LIVE DEMO: execution of veneer preparations with different finish lines by Dr. Ceroni
  • Hands-on practice on custom models: participants perform all types of veneer preparations
